Surprised that NASCAR does this - isn't NASCAR really big mostly in the South - my personal opinion is that the Confederate Flag represents racism but I've had a lot of people from southern states tell me to them it represents southern pride to them - kind of like how Texas takes pride in being Texas

I am a 37 year native of Texas and proudly cheer their various state symbols

That's because Texas (aside from their fringe geographic allegiance to the CSA) did not attempt to overthrow the government of The United States and did not as a body fight to defend slavery

The CSA flag in the year 2020 is simply a literally poor man's variation on the iconic Live Free Or Die symbol displayed on the flag of New Hampshire wrt the deliberately inferred message - "We live life our way and don't need any advice from them city slickers in WashDC/NYC"

All it takes is a drive thru 90% of LA/MS/AL/FLpanhandle to see how well that philosophy has played out
